snafu
Hmmm . . . just saw this thread. OP - what you're proposing really isn't an effective solution. Batteries require between 3 and 10A to maintain a surface charge from the alternator. If you're simply looking to add play time with the key off, then the tried and true way to do this is with an auxiliary battery/batteries isolated from the primary battery via some kind of isolation product. Diode isolators used to be the most common, but then we figured out that we lost .7V through them. In the early 1990s, most of us had migrated to large solenoids to do the isolation. That is still the preferred method today. Either will allow all batteries to be charged by the alternator but only the auxiliary battery/batteries to be drawn off of with the key in the ACCY position. Blue Sea Systems makes all kind of battery switches that allow you to select Battery 1, Battery 2, Batteries 1+2, or OFF. Keep in mind, this also affects which batteries will be charged by the alternator with the engine running. The idea of charging a battery at home with a battery charger sounds good on paper but in reality this is a PITA and so easily avoided. OrionStang
Easiest decision to make it you want to play music while tailgating is to leave your engine running. Wow, all problems go away. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
