Mustang2dakota
So what are some of the best ways that you guys have seen and/or mounted an amp to your box to minimize vibrations to the amp. I understand that it is not the best location for an amp, but in a buddy's setup there is no other practical place for an amp. 2014 JKU Sound: pioneer xav-65 4 12in pioneer tsw3003d4 2 pioneer gm-d9601 (much more in route) General: 18in worx rims 33in tire stinger src bumpers light bars 6k hids 2in leveling kit 3.25in lift The Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195839-2014-jku-build-4-12s/
kbsmoker
Some people use polyurethane or rubber bushings. I used a stack of 4 or 5 washers and haven't had any issuses...amp has been mounted the same way since 2011 www.dcsoundlab.comyoutube video's kbsmoker2011 MECAOH AS3 Champ 147.5OH DB2 Champ 125.9WF AS3 3rd 147.3WF DB3 2nd 128.3 SystemPioneer AVH-P4300DVD2 sets Fusion Encounter 6.5 componentson Crunch Ground Pounder 1200.418" DC NEO on DC 5.0KKnukonceptz 1/0 through outBig 3 all 1/0XS D6500under hood D3100 in the backMechman 270....rebuilt by Ohio Generator
Awhitewookie
You know that feeling you get in your chest? Same thing happens to the amp. Box mounting is fine. Mustang2dakota
I was thinking that multiple rubber washers or plastic washers would work. But I was just curious how well it would work or if there was a better way. Thanks for the input guys 2014 JKU Sound: pioneer xav-65 4 12in pioneer tsw3003d4 2 pioneer gm-d9601 (much more in route) General: 18in worx rims 33in tire stinger src bumpers light bars 6k hids 2in leveling kit 3.25in lift The Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195839-2014-jku-build-4-12s/
MrSkippyJ
Rubber washers really don't do shit when used like that. But your box really should be one of the most solid places to mount an amp really. I have had mine mounted on my box for a couple years now with out any issues. Of course I had one of the better box builders out there design and build my box. Ahmed Johnson
I put 2 boards on the box and screwed the feet to each one, then I put styrofoam in between the amp and the box.
tyma1026
I did something similar to Ahmed, although my box is not mounted to the box. I used the rubber bushings and washers and rubber beneath the amp.
Mustang2dakota
I like the styrofoam idea, that's probaby how I'll do it. 2014 JKU Sound: pioneer xav-65 4 12in pioneer tsw3003d4 2 pioneer gm-d9601 (much more in route) General: 18in worx rims 33in tire stinger src bumpers light bars 6k hids 2in leveling kit 3.25in lift The Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195839-2014-jku-build-4-12s/
