Question of the Day: ever roll with house gear (stereo) hooked up in your car?

Recommended Posts

I had my uncles b3100 bumping with some boom box speakers powered from a shitty aftermarket deck. The speakers fit perfectly behind the seat but the cab was small enough that it actually sounded decent all things considered.

Also talked a buddy into throwing his moms Yamaha tower speakers in the back of an old beater maxima haha. Wow I hadn't that of that shit in forever good topic Steve!

I had a friend in high school who had his dad's 24" DJ sub in the backseat of his car for a while running off of an inverter.

My dad said he used to hook his DJ setup up in his Chevy Luv truck with a Punch150 on the way to/from DJ gigs lol.

Back in '97 I disconnected the tweets and mids and put my Cerwin Vega towers in the trunk. It sounded ok. It fed the need for bass at the time. In '95 '96 I let my brother put my sony bookshelf speakers in his trunk. Actually sounded pretty good and had some fairly deep bass. '95 ish, my boy had two fosgate 12's in the trunk but no amp and no deck. We ran speaker wire from a boombox to the subs  It put out some bass for a couple minutes till the batteries died. Each time we tried with fresh batteries they would die quickly lol

me and a friend from tech school in '98 put my single 12" polk db sub in his hyundai accent for lows, powered by one side of a radio shack amp I cant recall where we appropriated that from, the highs were from 2 15" electrovoice? guitar speakers and 2 piezo electric tweeters. our source was a aiwa walkman with a 3 position EQ slider on the front of it. pretty ghetto but a 12" polk sealed box in a hatch back put out a surprisingly loud sound to us at the time. I've come a long ways from that heh
