Question of the Day: ever roll with house gear (stereo) hooked up in your car?

Recommended Posts

Back in the day when we were cheap! Haha. I was embarrassed when people saw what I had in the backseat of my '90 Mustang. I didn't go as far as a power inverter (though that did cross my mind). I had an extra set of Sharp bookshelf speakers in the backseat. That thing was so small, I needed all of the trunk I could get (which wasn't much). I wish I had a pic because I even had those things seat belted in. :P:lol:

Tough titty said the kitty when the milk went dry

"Anchors aweigh! So what do you think of my little vessel? She's what we call a see-worthy. S-E-E, see with your eyes. I feel like my transport should be an extension of my personality. Voila. And this, this is like my little window to the world, and every minute's a different show. Now I may not understand it. I may not even necessarily agree with it. But I'll tell you what, I accept it and just sort of glide along. You want to keep things on an even keel, I guess is what I'm saying. You want to go with the flow. The sea refuses no river. The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving. It saves on introductions and goodbyes. The ride does not require an explanation - just occupants. That's where you guys come in. It's like you come onto this planet with a crayon box. Now you may get the eight-pack, you may get the sixteen-pack, but it's all in what you do with the crayons, the colors, that you're given. And don't worry about drawing within the lines or coloring outside the lines. I say color outside the lines, you know what I mean? Color right off the page. Don't box me in! We're in motion to the ocean. We are not land-locked, I'll tell you that. So where do you want out?" ~Waking Life

4 8" OLD SCHOOL Sony home towers. including mids and tweets.

Tossed them in the back seat of my 1984 F-150 XLT extended cab.

Ran them off of one of those EQ\Boosters at first.. then got an amp later.

It was loud as hell!

My brother had a nice Klipsch 10" 400w home audio subwoofer that we hooked to an inverter, thing would bump hard till you turned it up too much and the inverter went into protect. Actually did a good install on it, tucked all wires and everything. Inverter mounted under the seat, wire tucked to up to cigarette lighter, power wire tucked running from sub to inverter, rca hidden from headunit to sub. Was quite hilarious

my first car was a 74 VW bug. Had no air and living in florida sometimes cruising on a friday night was too hot, plus the damn thing was tempermental. I had the choice of a few vfehicles my parents owned. a chevy berretta, a for taurus, a ford aerostar and a ford ranger. All of the vehicles mention had at one time or another my Fisher 3 way towers in them. The ones with the white woofer. I had a jensen 50 watt amp Id half ass wire in a pinch to the rear speakers, and powered it mostly off the trunk light lol

Back in high school, on Friday nights I would take the living room Pioneer tower speakers (3 way w/12" subs), lower the rear seats, and throw them in the back of our MItsubishi Cordia. Than hook them up to the "Kracko" tape deck and jam 2 Live crew. What, I was 16?! And yes, the bass sucked. lol.

I'd come home and my father would say "Where the hell are my speakers? DO NOT TAKE THESE OUT OF THIS HOUSE AGAIN!"

Back in the day, my buddy James, this dad won the Florida Fantasy sweepstakes. They bought a surround sound system. We took the powered 12" sub to the Cordia and somehow played it with the garage stereo he had. It was thumpin', but that was about it. We did not have an inverter or a radio with RCA jacks. Just thumpin' in his driveway.

I did as soon as I got my license. Any time I got to drive the car I would disconnect the rear deck speakers and hook them up straight to my dad's old tower speakers he bought while he was in the Air Force stationed in the Philippines. Those things were about 25 years old when I got my license

Oh gawd, I remember I took these 2 12" kenwood towers and bridged them with 2 10" jbls in the back of my civic. Sounded like pure doo doo but was funnier than hell.
