How often should you change a serpinite belt?

Recommended Posts

I had to change mine within 6 months of use. It's like 3,624 miles. Could have been 4 k but it needed replacement even before that

I just replaced mine when I swapped the singer to the mechman. It was not long ago and I'm already close to needing one. I went 1.2 inches shorter and helped get more out of it but it's starting to shirp under heavy acceleration when shifting into gear

first one even at 3/4 inch shorter it would slip a bit.. second one is all good unless i floor the throttle at 1.2 inches shorter. i dont know how you drive your truck but try giving it more throttle an see if it slips

mine did it a month after replacing it.. if i drive normal im good its when i floor it..

guess were doing it wrong......

EDIT- ive never LOST a belt, but, when your 700 miles away from home..... one way..... well, shit. If it shows wear, squeaks, ... well shit.

And some of us make a bit more amperage, run hot under hood. Then again, maybe im doing it all wrong....I also made my own dual bracket. It isnt "perfect". So, i just take some extra precautions...... just me

The only time I get squeal from my 1" shorter belt is if the tach is maxed out. Which I've only done a couple times. But that's only 4 months old now. So we'll see
