I've read about alot of people using d3100 as a secondary battery. Would there be any reason to use the d3100 over the xp 3000 as a secondary? Currently using a interstate mt-34r as my starting with a xs d975 as a secondary. I still would like to add some more reserve capacity in the trunk. Everything I'm currenlty running is in my sig.

The XP is specifically made for reserve and should never be used as a starting battery. I don't know how exactly the technology works. But the D series should be used as a starting battery, where as XP should only be used a secondary reserve battery.

That's what i figured. I've just seen alot of people with d batteries in the back. Do you think I should remove the d975 or just add the xp3000 to it?

You are more than fine at using a D series as a secondary or for more reserve, just only use a D series for a starting battery, that is all. It's just if all you need is reserve power, for the price the XP line is cheaper.

Edit: The other reason you see a lot of people running banks of D series, mainly older builds. They where built before XS power came out with the XP line so they had already bought and built their set ups with what was only available at the time.

ill help yo uout real quick

d3100 can be used as starting and will give you more instant power

xp3000 cannot be used as starting batt and will have more reserve

so...

in my appilcation i had 2 xp3000s.. what happend was that i was able to go from 13.2v down to 11.2v and hold that voltage ( demo) for about 30 minutes

swapped to d3100s

voltage went from 13.2v down to 11.8 but i was only able to demo for say 10 minutes

i have more instant power but couldnt hold that power longer with the d3100

the xp3000 my voltage was lower but i was able to sutain that power for longer

/ end story

Let me make a quick edit...

when i say demo for 30 minutes i ment until i knew the batteries were completely dead going from normal voltage ( 11.2 with xp3000's and 11.8 with d3100s) to scary voltage ( 10.7 with xp3000s and 11.0 with d3100s)...

end
