n8ball2013
So my office TV finally died and I'm on the hunt for a 40-50 incher. I've noticed the 4k tvs have sunk like a rock and I'm not a fan of old tech so with 4k being the latest and greatest available has everything else caught up with it? How much content is available in 4k? I'm guessing not much still. This is really going to be for me to play xbone on because my 70 inch has been overrun by a toddler at this point. The difference in the price I'm looking at is like 150 bucks. Not a game changer for me. mcfalcon
Stay away from chang Hong 4k. Just a heads up. Refresh rate makes a big difference. Still learning but have started gathering.
RainStryke
Most 4K content out right now is streaming and it's definitely not going to be mainstream for a while since it demands so much bandwidth to stream... The upscaling is nice though, it makes 1080p content look a lot more refined... So if it's down to a 150 dollar difference, I'd definitely take the plunge... But it's hard to say, since not all 4K TV's are the same... A lot of the cheaper panels are 8 bit and have other downfalls compared to the newer models. RainStryke
Stay away from chang Hong 4k. Just a heads up. Refresh rate makes a big difference. Yeah, those are pretty bad. I've heard a lot of complaints about their proprietary remotes that can't be replaced and the other problem where they don't have any kind of support to go beyond a 30Hz refresh rate. Kyblack76
Thread jack, Was walking around best buy yesterday. Looking for a gaming TV. I was lost in ultra HD this, mega that, 4k here and there. I'm lost in it all tbh. And some prices on some. Jesus. Does all that matter when your just slapping a next Gen console on it? I grabbed a ps4 but left with my head spinning a bit on a TV to put it on. Ahmed Johnson
Is there a cable/dish company that supports 4k? I wanted one a while back until a similar thread popped up saying that it's useless
mcfalcon
Yeah rain. Bought one off ebay. Beautiful picture but if the show /and or game is moving too fast parts of the screen pixelate because the refresh can't keep up. Still learning but have started gathering. mothra
as stated earlier, there is still very little 4k content. there are no TV service providers that offer anything in 4k and very few offer anything in 1080p. i personally would get a 4k due to the fact that the cost is going down regularly and most content is going to be from streaming in the near future. there are UHD players, but the biggest issue is that you can't find anything on UHD. it's really just a matter of being future proof. also 4k is a bit misleading because it's actually 2k, the 4k is a marketing scam. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
