I was looking into just getting a surface pro 4 vs another laptop for portability/touchscreen. They come in an m3, i5, i7. Can anyone with a little more experience/knowledge tell me why I would go with an i7 vs the i5? How they perform? the price itself? I've never ran a tablet before, but it seems like it would be much more convenient to carry around at school/bring to work. As well as reading books as an ebook on laptops is terrible. The specs on the new surface pro 4 are all around better than the laptop I use and it does a decent job. Just kinda bulky to carry around everywhere. MotorCityFats13 Posted October 14, 2015 Report Share Posted October 14, 2015 first thing to check is what version of windows is installed.... they like to have 2... 1 that is full windows and 2 that is only tablet and you cant use any programs that are not on the windows app store.... if you want to use it like a laptop then not being able to install any program you feel like is a major drawback.... its not a gaming machine so I would throw the i7 idea out.... now the i5 would be a choice but depending on what you are doing with this device an i3 will probably do everything you need... my laptop is only a 2ghz i3 and i dont have any problems with the basic things I do from day to day.... also remember that you cant upgrade anything hardware so a tablet cant fully replace a PC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Standard so you can download/use whatever programs you want. I've heard of people running alot of different software on them. Yea gaming isn't really a big factor. Most of my time is spent on work, school, or my audio system. The main reason I want to go with the i5 is to have the ability to run some basic editing software if I want to. I've read that the m3 processor lacks that at times. As well as the m3 only comes with 4gb of ram, the i5 model comes with 8. That's what makes the decision difficult. If I could upgrade to an i7 at a later date the i5 would be a no brainer. It seems like it would be a great idea but the usability is just terrible.
