Clownrock95
I'm a fan of theoretical thinking and while I'm at work my mind drifts into the land of "would this work" and one theory that I have not been able to discredit is as follows Spl comps are usually in the 10's of seconds right? And it's all about a huge burst of power in a short amount of time. And sometimes there's not Alot of time between runs to charge What's good at fast discharge and charge (naughty word incoming) capacitors Y couldn't caps help cut down on batteries and weight (I'm no expert on electrical but this all seems logical) To be clear I'm not talking about a walled daily driver I'm talking a built for bass trailer bitch And I'm not talking about completely replacing batterys just supplementing them

Wasteland_Audio
There's a build on here that a guy used something like 50 or so supercapacitors, can't remember who but i'll try to find it.

jk13
And another. Just have to make sure your caps are capable of the current draw/feed they will see in that usage. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/185172-the-black-nasty-1640-db-outlaw-1626-db-sb5/page-1 Static drops are my bag. Bump4life
i didnt run any batteries in my car. I only ran super capacitors. check out my build log in signature. the problem with traditional caps is that they dont have enough capacity for even a burst of audio use. thus supercapacitors are needed and do very well for burst and for a daily application with a good alternator! this is my car on caps only holding 15+ volts with 2 dd m4@ .5 ohm. clamped around 6k for burps. Triticum Agricolam
What I want to see somebody use is some kind of flywheel technology like what's used in kinetic uninterruptible power supplies. Those things can put out a ridiculous amount of power over a short time frame. boom50cal
Joe Price's world record S10 runs a lot of capicitors... enough to support 78,000W+ and do a 167.2 below the window line. https://www.facebook.com/JOE-Prices-S10-Build-745044448941523/ they are definitely coming around now. Steve M Mead(from Texas) had a pretty sweet S10 that ran a lot of caps aswell. They really work well for both musical daily builds and these crazy trailered burp cars. Would like to run some myself soon. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
