Swisher2015
Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since I have worked on this. I got really busy this semester between college and work. I have finally got done with the semester and have the time to give my truck the love it has been needing. So far I have ripped out the old rear wall out of the truck and tomorrow I am going to get some wood to make a real false floor, back wall, and a new box. The amp will be ordered on Thursday, decided to go with the SAE-1500d. One question I have is on the false floor I am thinking about putting the subs on the driver side with the amp on the passenger side, if I put the port on the bottom of the box facing the amp would it cause any interference or port noise? It would be about 5 inches from the port. Swisher2015
I was able to get a little bit done today, went and got the mdf I needed to finish the floor and the new box. I got the old rear wall that I didn't like ripped out and started on the new floor and rear wall, which I like a lot better than the old one. Swisher2015
So I am finally making some progress on this build after what seems like forever, I've been going without bass for almost an entire year. I have gotten the floor in the truck as already pictured and I've sort of gotten the box built. It is just kind of rough cut and screwed together, no glue or sanding done at all. Tonight after work I just kind of through it all in the truck, like literally, wires everywhere, rcas going over the console. I just had to hear them play after looking at them for all this time. I don't have much time to work on it but tomorrow I'm going to try and run some wires better and possibly start gluing the box together to get it ready for sanding and some body filler. Plan is to carpet the floor and build an amp rack with carpeted sides and gloss black top with the box gloss black. Here's a few pictures of the box and the amp. Swisher2015
Got a little bit done yesterday, got my new alternator in and went and got my amp tuned by a local audio shop. Then went a step back today with this, minor problem but kinda pissed me off cause these rca's were brand new. You can see how messy the wiring was, just thrown in there to make sure everything worked, then I go to clean it up and it busted. [/url Then this happened today, mom got hit by some idiot woman that was running from some guys wife and ran a stop sign. plowed straight into the front of her. Luckily she wasn't hurt, just tore up her car she just got a couple months ago. Monday though I am planning on ordering the rest of my amps and I guess more RCA cables, was hoping to only need 2 more but I guess I'll order 3, on the bright side these ones were a bit too long anyways so it'll let me order some closer in length. Swisher2015
The rest of the stuff is on it's way, A SAE-50.4 and some distribution blocks and fuse blocks, also have a little bit more wire on order. That should be the last of the wiring and audio supplies I should have to build. All that is left is all of it. Still have to finish the box, finish the floor, build an amp rack, wire in the speaker amp, and run the rca's and remote wire more efficiently to the back. That'll be all until my stuff comes in, hopefully before Friday so I can work on it before and after school that day. Swisher2015
I got some stuff today and got a little bit done. The rca's and the remote wire has been run under the carpet and through the floor, the power wire is coming in from the other side and comes up next to the rca's. I have a question for anybody reading this though, when I run my speaker wire from the amp should I run them straight to the speaker or can I run it to the back of the head unit and tap into the wires running into the truck? G-Difficult
I chose to run my speaker wire to behind my radio and soldered into the factory wire just because it was easier than trying to access the gaskets going to the doors(particularly drivers side front). I'm sure wiring them straight to the speakers would be better though.
