Im curious as what sound sensor people are using for the (spl labs app) i heard its like $20 for the sensor and $10 for the app on my tablet.

what sensor do i need to buy to stick on my windshield to use the SPL labs app ?

You would need the SPL lab sensor, but that is like a 500 dollar sensor.

Term-lab only for me.

Its the only sensor for most sanctioned competitions. So why bother with a knock off. Sure the knockoffs cost less, but they also do less and have limiting software.

I will never compete at some of these sanctioned shows that allow brand a or brand b meter to be used because its not fair to the competitors that are being beat buy a guy that is "louder" in another state due to a different brand mic being used at the show.

You just cant have one judge using Term-Lab while a judge a few hours away is using SPL Labs, while another judge is using the SSA meter.

Sure come finals at a centralized location everyone will be on the same meter, but what about those guys that thought they are winning because they always been metered on the SPL Labs mic come to finals and are put on a Term-Lab mic and are now far below the score they are use to, or vice versa.

The ISPLL org allows this and no matter how cool the owner is and even asked if I would host shows, I had to turn him down due to this reason alone.

So with that being said, you might as well spend the few extra bucks for the Term-Lab and have the meter the majority of competitions are running, and have the added features and room for expand the accessories in the future.

Its just gonna be for (home hits) playing around with box sizes, box position and such to see if i can gain a dB some where. I havent been on the meter yet i was just curious on the "generic" sensor i can buy and use for the SPL labs app on my tablet.

I guess i will have to save up my money for the right stuff.....

There is no meter worth a shit below 500 bucks.

Like I have a dual sensor, the entire time I competed I never owned one.

Now however I dont compete and bought a 2 mic Term-Lab.

Not only do I offer free metering for my enclosure customers, I also offer it to other locals that have no want or need to compete, but I charge them $10 for about 20minutes of meter time.

I also have the enclosure design software that is an additional add-on to the Term-Lab and I use this to design my boxes most of the time.

Another addition is the RTA if you buy the microphone for it, so setting up a good sound stage becomes easier to get a nice flatter response.

With the new Term-labs your also able to buy the additional power probes for clamping your actual wattage.

These are just some of the additional things you can do with a Term-Lab that the other sensors out on the market cant do.
However I guess your able to use the others on a phone app or ipod, but imo even if you could do that on a Term-Lab I wouldnt use it and would rather have a mouse and keyboard for adjusting my processor and not a touch screen.

To each their own I guess.
