Negative on fire, I'm EMS, congratulations though brother, welcome to the most rewarding job field there is. Stay safe out there

I did firefighting for a season when I was 19, it sucks. Hot, sweaty, dusty shit work. Then I moved to Alaska and worked the commercial fishing boats for a while. Cold, wet, fishy shit work, but I tolerate cold better than hot weather. I really liked being out on the open water, and the few times we got got stuck in REAL nasty storms.

Either job is hella dangerous, but the pay was good back in the late 90's. So I guess pick hot or cold. Or learn to weld, that's much better pay and safer too.

congrats brother and welcome to the family, what agency do you or will you work for? I worked on the Siuslaw N.F. in oregon for the United States Forest Service the last 3 years and this year going to North Dakota with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife. This is the one job/career the you will love going to work every day, hell i do.

I'm going through GFP Emergency in Sisters, OR

And thanks guys, I'm planning on being as safe as possible, have a girlfriend and her daughter to come home to. I don't want them to get that unfortunate phone call that I won't be making it home.

Just got back from a dispatch and all I can is WOW! Despite the long hours, and multiple days in a row, it is something you won't get burnt out as long as you look at the positives and have a great crew to be dispatched with! This job is very rewarding, physically, and mentally.

I used to want to be a smoke jumper but I realized pretty quickly I wasn't in that kind of shape. Those guys are insane. Ever since I started training BJJ my body is always hurting, but I can't quit now.

I'm a FF/EMT and would love to learn the wildland side of things.

Snap some photos on a call when it's safe and post them up here.

Good luck and stay safe!
