OrionStang
I know this stuff is flammable, but how worried do I need to be about sparks from welding catching it on fire. Already started the tedious task of cleaning the area's where the cage will mount, and obviously will have blankets down. There will be an extinguisher nearby, but would rather not have to use it. Thoughts? Experience? Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Broke_Audio_Addict
Just have the guys welding the cage cover the surrounding areas with welding blankets. OrionStang
Just have the guys welding the cage cover the surrounding areas with welding blankets. Of course, but Im thinking if a stray spark goes under there. How quickly can it go up? LOL Guess I could try to pull a sizable piece and do some experimenting. magillaru
My entire rear wall is layered with roadkill and we cut out just enough to get to bare metal and welded right around it.....not one problem or oh shit moment. ShadeTreeMechanic
If its tig welded then spatter won't be too bad. Mig / stick will throw more sparks and will definitely need a second person watching for fire. 3vil
True, but with how thick the aluminum backing is I don't think sparks/slag are a big issue.
Broke_Audio_Addict
If you don't mind me asking how much is the cage going to run you and what type are you getting? I planned on getting mine caged this year or next but I can't find any real cost estimates. OrionStang
I get good deals from Maximum Motorsports through my installer. Mounts to the strongest part of the car, not the floorboard. The two rear tubes will be custom fit. Not sure on the labor, but likely around 6-650 for the kit. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/Drag-Race-6-point-Mustang-Roll-Bar-E-Z-Remove-door-bars-fixed-harness-mount-2005-2014-hardtop-P1403.aspx Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
