yurvalentine
Sand your edges smooth and use primer, that's about all there is to it. It's pretty nice for painting.
Soccerballzs
Go to Sherwin Willams tell them you need Laquer sanding sealer, 280 grit paper. Route edges with router sand with 280 then reduce you sealer with laquer thinner you want it to penetrate the raw mdf edges not lay on top. give 1 coat then sand with 280 then give 2nd coat with same product sand, you may need 3rd coat also on raw edges use this product on the whole box. On top coat use a laquer based product car auto paint works great. You can use the vinyl sanding sealer on wood and plywood also after staining. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
Triticum Agricolam
The edges of the MDF are the hard part. There are a lot of ways to seal them, what other people suggested above all work well. What I do is I mix wood glue and water together and paint it on the edges. After it dries I sand it down a bit and paint the water/glue mix on again. From there I like to seal the whole box with Zinsser BIN primer. Its alcohol based and won't swell the MDF. Couple coats of that, sanding in between, and you are ready to paint. Soccerballzs
water and mdf product equals sweeling never use water based on mdf. High solids sealer laquer based is what you use. Furniture shop owner here!! Alot of the white cabinets you see at home depot is a mdf fabricated door with laquer based coatings. Try it you will say hey that old fart knows what he talking about! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
