Mechman Alt charging voltage?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the reassurance. I cooked my alt about a month ago so its been a long ride up until this point. The alternator looks amazing though. I almost wish I would have gotten it a custom color or something. Getting it professionally installed tomorrow hopefully. I would do it myself but my mechanic is chargin such a little amount I might as well save myself the headache. I also purchased a Mech Big 3 kit. My D4800 should arrive from the ups guy tomorrow as well with some 580 short posts.

By the way, that's a nice hairpin you have. With the big3 and XS batt you should be good.

Im hoping so. Now I need to figure out how to utilize all this power. Currently just running an Alpine mrx-m110 on an SA12 and an mrv-f300 on highs and mids. I have been thinking if an aq2200 on an Sundown x12 lol. Will be a couple months down the line though.

depending on how mechman sets up the alt they usually install a smaller pulley hence why they say a new belt... they cant say what size you will need because many different cars/trucks use the same alt... your mechanic will see this when he installs this alt and the belt tensioner is either at its outer limits or belt just slips like a bitch when the field is activated.... stock alts consume around 7hp these HO alts take more on the parasitic loss than a stocker

you can run a HO alt on everything stock nothing is going to happen does not matter if its drawing on a 1300rms system or 5000rms the alt will not kill anything unless the voltage is too high and steve even did a video bumping up the charge to 15.2 and nothing bad happened.... you are just future proofing the electrical so when you go crazy one day you have it on tap

Did they say what size pulley they are putting on the alt? I remember, if it is even correct lmao. When I just bought my alt from US, they said they are putting on a pulley that's the same size my stock, so it will literally be swapable no extra parts needed.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha
