RageQuitForLife
so would it be more beneficial to run a 250 or 300 amp fuse for my 0 gauge? or is it a minimal difference between the 2? i feel so stupid, but i just dont want to see my car go up in flames from a small mistake. reedal
Just use 150A fuses. This has been made way more complicated than it should have been. Your alt isn't going to short, your big three won't short, NOTHING will short out if you take your time, run the wire safely, not against any heat sources, sheet metal edges, etc. Your alt won't put out more than its max rating at any time, and you won't even get that, but fuse big three for 150. Your amp doesn't have any fuse recommendation. Looking at other amps that output similar power, a 150A fuse can be used. Fuse within less than 8 inches of each positive wire coming in/out of your battery(s). End thread. It's not a battery, it doesn't put out 1400 amps if you short it and make the fuse blow ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Jessica
I've never seen a fuse on a charge wire. Maybe a "main" fuse in the fuse block where everything runs off of. But never near the alt. Not even from factory. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. SnowDrifter
Most have a fusible link of one form or another, not necessarily an inline fuse ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
MrSkippyJ
All of my cars have had factory fuses at/near the battery from the alt. But never 2 or one near the alt. Jessica
personally i wouldn't fuse an alt wire, but i wouldn't recommend someone else not to.
