pumin
Hi. Please advice amp/subwoofer for a daily listening system for my SUV and to match front speakers, I probably get only a pair of 6.5 inch, and a pair of tweeter. Music I listen to are 80% - extreme/death metal lots of kick drum, 10% - pop, jazz 10% - electronic/dubstep/rab/drum and bass. I aim for SQ, more musical, less distortion, deep, clean, and tight bass. Option 1: one SD-3 10" in sealed box. Option 2: two SD-3 10" in sealed box. Option 3: one SD-3 12" in sealed box. <-- preferred Option 4: two SD-3 12" in sealed box. <-- probably too much? Should I get them 4-ohm or 2-ohm version? and which amp? Please, for any other suggestions. Pumin

boom50cal
single 10 or 12, on a Sundown SAE-600D. Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep it matching. Toby Ratcliffe
Depending on the vehicle one SD-2 12" Dual 2 ohm wired in parallel to bring down to 1 ohm on a SAE-600D would be fine for what you want. Two SD-2 12" Dual 4 ohm all wired parallel would also see a 1 ohm load on a SAE-1000D and would give you a bit more low end. Budget and space is what will be the deciding factor. DTS909
What they said. Lots of good amps that will get you the right amount of watts. The sd's sound great sealed and on rated power. pumin
Thanks for all suggestions. If I go for 2 of SD3 subs, should I get 1500-watt amp (eg. SAE-1500D or SCV-1500D) instead of 1000-watt?
Toby Ratcliffe
Thanks for all suggestions. If I go for 2 of SD3 subs, should I get 1500-watt amp (eg. SAE-1500D or SCV-1500D) instead of 1000-watt? If your budget will support it, that is what I would go with. The extra power will help in a sealed box. bmxscion
I have an SD-3 12" D4 in a sealed box just under 1 cu ft. The one I have was the prototype unit that has the machined outer spokes unlike the production models. I have it powered by a RF 501bd and processed with an MS-8. It is an awesome sub but I will be upgrading next year so I may sell this one.
