I just finished an AR build and the lower was $550 total and I haven't done the math on the upper yet... Shoots great but I need to dimple the barrel for the gas block since it walked on me and wouldn't cycle a round. The stainless barrel is much smoother than a typical parkerized barrel so you really need the dimple to lock in place. The ruger ar-556 is pretty Damn nice for a budget rifle, they run $600. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Built well enough to crush a head and they have a few options. For a PDW, if it's going to be a 556 gun forever get the NEA. kills two birds with one stone as well since it comes with the carrier.
