Now picture ordering 30 minimum order of those 1500$ "12K" amps. 2 or 3 are DOA and 5 of them you sell to nitwits who try to run it to .25 ohm or on too little electrical and blow them up. Do you "warranty" those? How do you even know what is abuse and what is truly manufacturer defect? Repair on one of those size amps 2 way shipping included would likely run about 700$ and up.

Even worse you get into a situation like Diablo or Rd (3250V2) and order a real lot of them and they all blow up right out of the box. I don't think too many companies have the clout to strongarm a buildhouse into making right on something like that and it has happened. That's where buying these amps through an established "brand" becomes worth the premium price. Their risk their headache and if you pick a big enough company you can safely assume they can absorb the loss if they get a shipping container full of duds and you happen to get one of them.... the even bigger companies who do their own R&D (Rockford, Alpine, Kicker, etc.) likely can afford to have full time oversight and QC at their buildhouse in the far east to prevent a big run of bum amps before they even come out the door of the sweatshop.
