Project Flexington: 160.3db @ 37hz!! Parallel 6th order walk through, DC Neo Elite 18s, 4 DC 5.0ks, JY Lithium, 12 banks of XS Caps

Recommended Posts

Ended up tearing apart the harness again and decided to further wire tuck the engine bay. Not many pictures but this is the main thing I've been working on. A relay box, the main engine harness, head unit harness and fan harness.
The engine harness will be run out into the transmission tunnel and up the rear of the engine with the exception of 1 wire for the alternators and the power for the fans and water pump.  Fans will be on a relay controlled by a 3way toggle switch with switched 12v as well as constant.

New passenger window seal for the truck and a new tach and fuel level gauge. Now all of them will match.

Should have one more update before I leave for vacation in Miami for 2 weeks, going to Ultra Music Festival with my girlfriend.  Hopefully I can finish up fast when I get back because I'll have 30 days before the first event of the season and have a long way to go lol.

No, but I have a pushrod measurement tool I'll be using to check if longer will be needed.

Thanks man! Very cool, I'm leaving Wisconsin in about 30min. My 370z is still in the shop from an accident,  so we're taking my girlfriend's Roush 428r Mustang so I'm not complaining!

On another note, my friend Geoff hooked me up with some sweet hardware for my caps, now I just need buss bars from him!

So I'm back from vacation, had a good time, here are some highlights from my trip if anyone is curious.

Ultra was awesome. Datsik was on the world wide stage the first night, was a good show:

My favorite show was Carl Cox in the Carl Cox mega structure. It was basically like a big aircraft hanger with the front chopped off. The lighting was absolutely outstanding and the sound was by far the best of the 4 stages.

This was probably the coolest stage, Arcadia.  The dj booth was in the body of the spider above the dance floor.  Sound was excellent at this stage too. Was very impressed with the bass reproduction for an open air venue. Lighting was exceptional too.

Spent a few days on the beach relaxing, even rented some jets jetskis one of the days:

On our way back to WI we stopped at the tail of the dragon. My 370z was in the body shop and wasn't done before we left so we took my girlfriend's Roush 428r instead. It was a good time.

Anyway, as far as the build goes, I got notified I'll be doing 60hr weeks for the next 2 weeks at work so I won't have much time. I'm going to try to get a few things done and my buddy who has been helping with the engine work will be wrapping that side of things up for me.

I also got an update that my subs are about 30 days out so I'll be missing the first event of the year unfortunately, but considering where I'm at, the truck probably won't be ready anyway.

Joseph Capriati and Marco Carola ROCKED the Carl Cox stage on Friday night!  We were front and center for Carl Cox too.  Special guest Nicole Moudaber on Saturday at Arcadia was an awesome surprise but the rain kinda sucked.  We had a badass time in Miami, man, glad you did too.

Not much to update at the moment, been working 60hr weeks since I got back from vacation,  but got a couple things.

Modified the gauge cluster to fit the new gauges:

I also almost have the gauge wiring done, but no picture.

And I'm really excited about this.  I've been looking around on and off for quite a while for one of these and one finally popped up and happened to be local so I scooped it up yesterday!

Should be making some noteworthy progress starting this coming week.

Finally got some time to do some work on the truck!  I rethought my wall design and got the cut list done...basically an evolution of the previous design, biggest change was that instead of porting the rear chamber out the top of the wall I switched to a bottom port. This will maximize space because the width of the top is limited due to the shape of the cab opening.

I decided to say screw it and pill the dash completely.  This way I could remove the rest of the hvac as well as deaden and properly seal the firewall.
20170503_185453_zpsjnorvdkz.jpg

Since I am redoing the harness and now had quite a bit more access to it, I decided to strip out some more of the unneeded wiring. So much room for activities!

20170503_212425_zpsrchcujkl.jpg

With all of the extra space, I now have many more options for mounting the new electrical components.  I decided the easiest solution would be to mount all of them to one panel.  I was going to make a metal panel and bolt it down but after realizing how much work it would be, I gave up for the night.

I'm glad I did, because the next morning I had an epiphany.  Why not kill 2 birds with one stone and cover the firewall with birch! This way I don't have to deaden it, it will be more effective than deadener AND give me a super easy place to mount the components!

20170503_212425_zpsrchcujkl.jpg

Supervisor Forza was on the job too, was shaping up to be a productive night.

20170504_201733_zpsal4yerwj.jpg

Got the rest of the new roller rockers installed:

20170504_194023_zpsa7tustrs.jpg

Mounted the electronics. Excuse the hideous rats nest, I decided to temporarily connect everything to insure it all worked and so that we could bump the motor over while setting the lash on the valvetrain.

20170504_231622_zpsipep0eve.jpg

Got the lash set and a new fuel pump and radiator cap on and fired it up. Did an initial tune on the carb and she's running really well!

20170504_231644_zpsejqmrvy7.jpg

Next step this weekend will be to warm it up and do a final lash adjustment, top off the coolant, button up the wiring and take her for a spin!
