Charles Phillips
Hey, I'm sure this has been asked before, but the car I'm putting a wall in is awkwardly shaped and I'm wondering if I should just build a false floor and route wiring through it, or build it to mimic the curvature of the car roughly. Below is a picture of what I'm dealing with, but in my situation I have the rear seats and trunk trim completely removed. - 2009 Toyota Matrix Base - - iPad 64GB - - miniDSP 2x4 HD - - PPI Art a200.2 - - SoundQubed SQ-2200.2 x 2 -
KyleButler
it's nice to start with a level base to build off of
Charles Phillips
Yeah that probably makes the most sense, it just feels weird wasting all that room for airspace. Welcome to SMD Forums btw! - 2009 Toyota Matrix Base - - iPad 64GB - - miniDSP 2x4 HD - - PPI Art a200.2 - - SoundQubed SQ-2200.2 x 2 -

CrewcabBass918
Figure out your needed airspace for what you wanna run. If u need it great, you got it, otherwise make a false floor and utilize the extra room for extra batteries!

Charles Phillips
Alright, so update time. I realized that this question kinda sucked. After some more looking into it, I can make a beauty panel that will cover up the sub box and seal the front chamber from the back where the amplifiers are. I can measure the curvature of the ceiling with an adjustable curve and transfer that to wood to make sure my cuts are as correct as they can be. There's a huge lack of information on the topic of wall building, and while there are many wall build videos, no one is talking about the math they used and the things they went through to acheive their final design. I'll be creating a YouTube channel to do just that, so I can learn as I go. After the project in my own car, I have a sprinter van that I was going to do a wall build in as well, so I can offer even better advice by then. - 2009 Toyota Matrix Base - - iPad 64GB - - miniDSP 2x4 HD - - PPI Art a200.2 - - SoundQubed SQ-2200.2 x 2 -
ShadeTreeMechanic
I think most people start with half of an idea and figure it out as they go. I will build a wall someday too. hdorre
I built a false floor in my old wall, and actually shelled out my current wall. You lose a lottt of space by doing a false floor (in my case anyway). Besides - if youre going to shell out the rest of your car, why skimp on the base?
