I like option two. Is that big knob beside it for the radio?

So option 1 and 2 are winning.

I love the look of option 1 but the functionality of it there is lacking. Drinks in the way is a thing and I also have that cover pulled down and my phone sitting there almost constantly.

Option two feels be best and doesn't look horrible. But the bass knob is just a hair too large to look "right" to me there.

And yes that big knob and everything in that console area is radio control functions

Just a suggestion, can you get another one of the small factory knobs from the console and marry that to the control box to make it look factory and symmetrical in option 2? Using it instead of the actual knob that comes with the unit? Stealth.

It depends on how you would use it. Some people like a hand held lc1 to adjust it to the music and situation at the time. Me personally, there was no such thing back in the day so I would adjust the gains so everything would be booming on normal music and would operate the volume knob accordingly with bass heavy music so the bass would not max the system out. Play it by ear like flying by the seat of your pants. Lol

I am not that bad ass of an installer. I can do some clean wiring with my OCD and tune a pretty solid SQ system but for OEM integration I couldn't even be in the same room as the really good fabricators.

Ill have to find a spot somewhere in the car for this knob. It will be the only major modification visible from the driver seat unless I decide on pillars.

Yeah im not that kinda guy. I set all my gains to clip at the same volume and use a volume control on my bass that allows the bass to pass through (like an LC1 would) but doesn't turn the bass up.

Ill be battling myself with this build between something thats loud enough and something that doesn't break apart my car.

Updates...

Not my car.. but this is what I installed this weekend. A couple IS 12's, a B2 mono, some northstar batteries and a bunch of welding cable (and other wires in preparation for stage 2) Don't mind the way the amp is mounted. That was temporary. yes the box is secured.
