No turn on wire Alts, who's running them

Recommended Posts

My 250amp Mechman is a self exciting and self turn on alt.
One thing I definitely like is not having to run a turn on relay for multiple alts

One-wire Alternator:
Is another name for the Self-Exciting Alternator mentioned above. You only need to connect the battery wire (one-wire).
The alternator turns on the voltage regulator when the engine starts turning the alternator.

Some people like to turn off some of their alts when not needed. I am not sure why. This can't be done with one wire alts.

turning off internally regualated alts still being spun by the belt, An alt maker said was bad. I know some people still do it.

I have an Ohio Gen self exciting alt. I love it.

Glad to hear it's working great, I was kinda unsure about the design since no one I knew was using this style alt. I am loving the idea of no turn relay cabling.
