How many watts?

I have a vcw122 rated for 850 to 1000rms.

I'd like to run it at 1000rms @1ohm (apx .87ohm measured)

I run at 13.3v not like most amps that are rated at 14.4v.

Is it ideal to get an amp slightly over this 1000rms so it doesn't have to work so hard all the time to supply it?

Note: My Brutus brz1200.1d blew up.(Maybe because quality? Another topic for another time.)

If it was me I would get a genuine 1000-1200 rms watt amp as to fully get that sub moving when need be. I would recommend the Twisted Sounds 1k as it does well over rated power and is pretty cheap.

I don't know what you budget is but here is an amp that is $500. 1200w @ 1ohm 12v & 1800w @ 1ohm 14.4v. Probably does more than that but that's what it's rated for. Great amps from a great company.

Things to consider (not a comprehensive list, just things that come to mind)

1.)Budget

2.)Headroom (more power than you need means you wont be pushing the amp to it's limits)

3) Efficiency

4.) Features on the amp that you want

5.) Quality

6.) Footprint (how big is the amp and how much space do you have for it)

Nothing else comes to mind at the moment but those are some things you could consider in order to help you decide.

Budget def comes to mind but that usually goes right along with quality.

They all seem to be very efficient, maybe the Mono more than the others.

But having more power to drive the sub is something I've been considering, to keep the amp working not as hard.

I liked how the Mono rated at different voltages.

I guess it'll come down to just how much I'm willing to spend.

Rockford prime 1200. Over 1200watts at 1ohm, and fairly inexpensive.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
