As you can see, i left myself with JUST ENOUGH of the dash to keep the original shape.  It is VERY flimsy at this point.  The dash kit will be it's new support when it goes in.

 

 

a couple of drops of glue to hold it in place while i make sure it is straight.

 

This dash, as SOME of you know very well, is curved and crooked from the factory.  This a very large STRAIGHT bezel kit (the side slider), so i will have to work some magic to make it look like it belongs.

All large gaps were covered in plastic strips and Black-CA Glued in place.  This did 2 things.  It created a structure for the dash so it isn't flimsy any more and it also filled in large areas and made me a "pocket" to fill from the other side with fiberglass filler.  It basically keeps it from being pushed out the back side when i mud it up from the front.

 

 

All those strips on the side were glued in place the way i did because it is an odd shape and i wanted it to be strong!

 

I am very lucky, i got to keep ALL the original clips! this thing should snap right in when i am done!

See how the large gaps became "pockets"? This allows me to fill it up with fiberglass (kitty hair) body filler and have it stop rather than just fall out the back.

 

got some low spots but after it dry's and after i sand it some, it gets another coat of body filler to level it out.

 

Sand sand sand...and more sand.

 

i LOVE this stuff!!!!

 

Amazingly enough, i really only used this much body filler...and a lot of that got wasted too.

Tomorrow i shall fill in the stuff on the far left of the bezel (the little groove that goes around the headlight switch) and make that flush.  After that, it all goes in and gets shot "Meadecherry" to match the Tahoe. Then i am back in business again! What an upgrade this is gonna be! I am so excited! The mac-mini was fun and all but this is going to be great!

i thought for sure i was going to lose two or at least one clip...i tried my hardest not to lose any! i got lucky
