ShadeTreeMechanic
Depending on the kind of bass, you can't always hear clipping. I bang the heck out of my stuff rated at 1 ohm and wired to .5 and never get too hot to touch. I have mine set with a DD1 as a reference to help know how far to push it. If you set it by ear and its not going into protect while getting too hot to touch, I would say its running on borrowed time. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
MrSkippyJ
They run hot, mine is almost always too hot to touch. If it isn't protecting don't worry about it. Mine has been going strong for years like this.
