Extraordinarily Intrusive Video Ads

I am getting video Ads that no matter where I'm at in the page, force the window to scroll back up to the top of the page to watch the beginning of the video. After the first couple seconds into the video I can scroll down. In one case it was playing the same video in 3 different ads, and every time it restarts the ad every 15 seconds or so, it will again reforce me to go back up to the top of the page and won't let me scroll back down again until I get partway into the ad. I know you guys want to make money off the ads and we can't view the site anymore with adblock on and will get ads unless we pay for a membership but this is ridiculous. It's worse if the ad timing gets off between the multiple ads as then every time one of them starts it takes you to the top.

It's taking me a couple minutes to even make this post because it keeps cycling back to the top of the screen, every letter brings me back to the post and then jumps back to the top of the page.

Same thing for me.  Without a paid subscription it's about making me want to not come to this site anymore.

I dont agree with intrusive ads, let alone multiple video ads all playing at once

The no adblock thing or no viewing the site method doesnt work and I am against it 100%, but its not my decision to make.

Forbes and some other sites did similar things before dropping Alexia ratings big time for views and disabled them.

So I guess until the site takes a larger hit than its 2,655 points down that it is here to stay.

Yeah its a dice roll, completely depends on what ads you get when you open the page.  I couldnt read the forum in bed the other night so just went to sleep instead... BOOOO! haha

forbes still wont let me in with adblock on. Just tried it,  i never go there anymore just because of that. Now on twitch, its disabled, but i have turbo (now amazon) and whitelist so streamers still get ad revenue.

actually it sounds like there is something going wrong.  It wasn't always like this.  Ill turn it off till i can figure out why it is doing that.

 

But know this, for those that are bitching about ads.  This site is very expensive to run. $5,000 a year JUST for the server and that don't include all the money i spend for people to help me with the site throughout the year.

 

 People here like to brag about how they are "getting around the system" that helps pay for it.  So i took measures.
