02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Build (AKA Project Silent Night) Mechman, Neo Slow

Recommended Posts

Alright did a little more today I hope these pictures might help some people in the future like me that have no clue what to do. So after doing all the wood to get as close to the door as possible I covered the door in painters tape and then put spray foam on the wood and on the door. After the foam has had sufficient time to sure I opened the door, pull hard and then peeled the tape (which was stuck more to the foam than the door). Afterwards I just trimmed it all with a sawzall blade. It gives you a really nice fit to the door and I can still open it which is a plus. I also put down my first coat of polyurethane on the inside of the enclosure tonight but I'm waiting for it to try so I can get a better picture representation tomorrow. I will probably do 2-3 coats but tomorrow I'm going out of town for work for the next 3 weeks.

Oh a note about the foam the side with the completed trimmed pictures is great stuff and the application pictures are loctite. I ran out of painters tape and spray foam last night and only got one side done. I think the loctite will prove to be better quality but I will post a picture when I get it trimmed. The Loctite really expanded I could have used less than I did but I wasn't really used to it.

I like how you sealed it off without fiberglass. Very clever.

Thanks I believe I'm still going to make trim panels with wood and filler but I didn't think that would be sufficient. Plus I've never fiberglassed anything before.

First coat of polyurethane on and semi dry:

Awesome work! Any chance it'll be playing by MOB on the 20th? lol1f62c.png

Unfortunately no I'm in Ohio for work until Memorial Day I'm going to be hard pressed to make Slamology. Good to see another Michigan local on here.

Well I ended up riding home with a coworker for mother's day I was home for a little under 24 hours. I did get a few small things done but nothing major to report.

First off I do have to say that the Loctite Foam is worth the extra money you can tell it's much more dense. It did seem a little more messy when cutting it.  20170513_193337_zpsfpsydivs.jpg

Got the second coat of polyurethane down one or two more and it should be good. I don't think the pictures do it justice honestly. 20170514_085115_zpsq3pzsatr.jpg

I got these fans in for cooling my amps they aren't exactly quiet but they do move some air, not sure if I'll set it up so both flow one way or do like a push pull kind of deal. They don't exactly match I wasn't paying attention and ordered them from two different ebay sellers, oh well. 20170514_083750_zpsct9io6hb.jpg

Finished the last fuse holder I should need nothing to it.  20170514_140424_zpsuifiilbt.jpg

Washed the Jeep and my truck both were covered in dust, pollen and saw dust.  20170514_155236_zpsrgizisj8.jpg

Trimmed the lower part of the B-Pillar trim to fit nailed it on the first try.  20170514_170039_zpsgobvqkch.jpg

Lastly pulled the door panel on the passenger side to check it out. The factory stuff to seal the door was shot so it got pulled off. I set the speakers in the panel to try and determine a layout I think this will work. It's a lot of stuff for one panel.  20170514_164258_zpsb7nujw00.jpg

What a job !  everything is well thought.  Good.

But I did not see the part where you talked about the choice of subs.

Those motors were looking great, and then I saw some DSS Ethos (great subs BTW)... And 3 8K for 6 DSS : they'll have power to play !

Tuned in for more.

black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp

OEM head unit, Amplifiers Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200.

Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats.

2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a 2.6 ft3  ported box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
