dsw422
Hey guys.. I'm looking to get a new router and am wondering which of these 2 you recommend. Porter cable 7518 Porter cable 892 I'm looking for a powerful router that will last a long time and is able to handle hours of operation and use on mostly mdf. The difference in price is about $150. WalledSonic
Ive been eyeballing the Porter Cable 7518. I already have the mini Dewalt 1/4 drive with plunge that I use for freehanding stuff. But I have enough wood lying around to make my own router/saw table, and it'd be nice to get a 1/2 drive for power and stability. Idk.. lol.. it has the height adjuster to control different depths.. plus I don't have a router lift for my homemade router table. I use the router base as the mount to the table. What router do u recommend? I have been using a ryobi 1/4" router now for 3 years and ivery replaced it once and the current one is falling apart. I need a router that is strong and will last a long time. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/

I like the 7518 too but the only difference I have seen and read between that and the 892 is the HP rating. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
kingsuv
Both are awesome routers. The 7518 will allow you to use bigger bits. The 890 series might big down on some work. Step up to the big boy you will not regret it. Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

Jessica
Haven't used it much yet. If you are using it every day, the porter cable is probably a better choice Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
