I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban 1500 LTZ with a 6in Pro Comp lift on 20in rims and 305/50r20 tires. Looking to get at least 35x13.50r20 but possibly 37x13.50r20s. I'd like to know if it's definitely necessary to regear for either and if so to what? I'm assuming my gears are stock (whatever that is) since I bought the truck 6 months ago and don't think the owners before would've. I've been told 37s would make me idle at 4K RPM on the highway and shit on my transmission in less than a year. I'm mechanically challenged btw...what do y'all think?

anything ive ever seen about 37's says get 4.56 gears at minimum. as far your trans, I'd recommend a swap to a 4l80e from a GM 2500 in a junkyard. the 60e's aren't that great, and the extra heat from all of the added weight of tires and audio will cause problems for you after a while.

you could get away with it for a while but overdrive would be useless. don't forget to upgrade the brakes too.

I used an on line gear calculator to come up with 411 gears on my 51 to go with 5.60 biased ply tires. I don't remember which one it was but I remember there being quiet a few out there. The car does better than stock now on the highway and since it's the stock 216ci and no race car I don't notice a real difference in take off.

New gears and breaks are a must when going to that size in my opinion. I would even want to look into transmission upgrades like shift points and torque converter.

I say that but I'm sure I'd find a way to cut a corner or two.lol

All I understood from above was yes you need to regear with 37s, add brakes and either fix certain parts of the transmission or get a new bigger one from a junkyard. Past that all the numbers and stuff is jibberish to my brain unfortunately. Anyone know how much it should cost to regear for the 37s? Not necessary for 35s I guess?

An aftermarket tranny cooler to go along with the factory cooler and a shift kit to firm up the shifts would be good too. I would wait until the tranny goes before doing anything more with it. You should be able to look at the sticker in the door jam or on the axle tag to see what your ratio currently is. A gear swap could be over $400 per axle depending on how tedious your gears are to set up.

Parts and labor you can expect aroud $1500 per axle.

I run 35's on my Tahoe and it does fine but I dont take it on the highway much. If I do its for short distances not a long trip

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

Like I said before I'm mechanically challenged so almost everything posted above makes 0 sense to me. I see $1500ish per axel, upgrade parts around a tranny, check a junkyard for a bigger tranny, and gear above 4.56. That's literally all I understood from what's been said. I appreciate the help certainly but at this point, all I can do with this information unless someone can break it down for me, all I know is to find someone and show them my phone and let them decipher what's been said.
