Masterbasser
I have had my mechman alternator for a couple years, Tonight I noticed a strange reading on my volt meter and the smell of rotten eggs. I shut everything off and quickly got the car home, pulled out dmm and I'm getting 18 volts with the car on. Did the internal regulator take a shit? What are my options? Ron36
Order a new regulator or burn everything up your car is not made for that . Masterbasser
if I could get the parts I would change the regulator myself. wonder if its possible to use the regulator off my stock alternator in it Quote Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
ShadeTreeMechanic
If the alt is the same style as the stock one it might work. I don't know what modifications mechmen makes when they build. I would contact them and they might be able to send you the regulator. Ron36
If u still have your stock ALT u could pull both regulators out but at that point might as well put the stock ALT back on until u get a new regulator . I would pull out the H.O . Regulator and look at the brushes to see how they are worn I'm betting there pretty much gone. ShadeTreeMechanic
My wifes nephew had a late 90s Oldsmobile (or something) that the alt ran away on. he said the headlights were really bright and he kept driving it until they blew. he drove it home and said the battery was boiling over. he put a new alt in and luckily it didn't fry the computer.
