Loudest CLEANEST Bluetooth Boombox? Unboxing a monster sized 560watt RMS Diamondboxx XL! Pics inside (Video Coming Next)

Recommended Posts

8 Tweeters, Six 5.5" woofers.  12 Channel Class A/B Amplifier pumping out 560w RMS of raw AMERICAN made power.  This thing is a monster!  Designed and manufactured by my good friends at D'Amore Engineering, you know the Diamondboxx XL isn't just loud, it is clean.  It is quality all the way.  Most important, it is in Stereo. LOL...don't laugh, there is another "boombox" out there that everyone is shitting themselves over with some fake spectrum analyzer on it and it's in MONO :ninja:  :WTFBubble: :roflmao: .   Not to worry when it comes to Tony and Juan because this thing is the real deal.   It actually has two modes.  SQ and SPL. SPL, obviously isn't "SPL" like in a car....but it seems to activate all the tweeters and go balls to the wall when you activate it.  I think the SQ mode is nice and clean, plenty loud, and easier on the battery.  But i will stick with the louder mode myself. It screams yet is clean from the bottom to the top of the volume dial.

Here is a few pics of the unboxing while i work on the video.  Also, check out https://diamondboxx.com for more product info.

DiamondBoxx Model XL White Paper
November 23rd 2016
by Tony D’Amore

There exists a problem in audio reproduction and sound amplification.  It is like a pie with 3 pieces. The pieces are Sound Quality, Loudness, and Portability (size, weight, power).  Some audio systems sound good, are very portable, but not loud.  Others are portable and get loud but sound terrible.  Yet others sound good, get loud, but are not portable at all (high end home audio).   We believe we have engineered the perfectly balanced pie for you with our Model M and Model L, but sometimes you have to feed A LOT OF PEOPLE. (and you’re a little nuts)

A DJ’s dream

Introducing the DiamondBoxx Model XL, the world’s loudest, best sounding, portable, self-powered speaker system!

This is a next level product, aimed at someone who needs huge sound without wires and/or huge sound without nearby power grid to plug into.   XL has been designed with multiple speakers in a line array.  When speakers are arranged in a line array and presented in tall vertical columns they disperse the sound in a controlled way that projects the sound toward the audience.  Typically, a speaker will lose 6dB in output for every doubling of distance of the listener to the speaker.  In a line array it is only 3dB.  The result is that 100 feet away, it’s still LOUD!    The XL can be arranged so that they sit on the ground or stand vertically, or they can be mounted on an industry standard speaker pole mount.

What if you only have one Model XL and want stereo sound?  The Model XL has a patent pending feature; it senses its position relative to Earth via 3D accelerometers and reconfigures itself appropriately!

With this patent pending feature, the speaker has several modes of operation determined automatically at startup based upon accelerometer data.

Left line array mode -  Unit is powered up while oriented vertically with the tweeter stack on the left.  All 12 amplifier channels operate driving 14 drivers at a total power of 960 Watts in a 2-way design (woofers and tweeters) with ALL left channel information, automatically.  Intended for a pair for L and R.  Two or more units can be linked together on each side (stack of lefts, stack of rights) for a true concert level system on battery power.

Right line array mode -  Unit is powered up while oriented vertically with the tweeter stack on the right.  All 12 amplifier channels operate driving 14 drivers at a total power of 960 Watts in a 2-way design (woofers and tweeters) with ALL right channel information, automatically.  Intended for a pair for L and R.  Two or more units can be linked together on each side (stack of lefts, stack of rights) for a true concert level system on battery power.

SQ Stereo mode – Unit is powered up while oriented like a boombox.  8 amplifier channels operate with a total power of 640 Watts in a 3-way design.  2 Outer tweeters on each side operate as left and right stereo, one midbass on each side operate as left and right midbass – this gives the widest stereo image possible.  The remaining 4 woofers operate mono as one big subwoofer, and the remaining 4 tweeters are muted.  This mode gives great sound quality and longer battery life, at the expense of maximum volume.  (still louder than a Model L in this mode)

Other hidden modes can be accessed manually to put the speaker in any of it 6 possible modes.  This is done by a combination of button presses on the mode button.  The mode selected is displayed via the VU meter LEDs and the mode button LED.

  1. All Left channel, SPL mode
  2. All Left channel, SQ mode (sound quality)
  3. All right channel SPL mode
  4. All right channel SQ mode
  5. Stereo SQ mode
  6. Stereo Max SPL mode -- All 12 amplifier channels operate with a total power of 960 Watts on all 14 drivers in a 2-way design. 4 tweeters on each side operate as left and right stereo, three woofers on each side operate as left and right woofers. This mode still gives great sound quality along with maximum volume.

To support the massive 12 channel amplifier, it gets our “big battery upgrade” as a standard feature.  This Lithium Ion pack consists of 24 cells. Marketeers would call this 62,400mAh (24 x 2600mAh).  I see this on some of our competitors’ products; it is technically incorrect and misleading.  When batteries are placed in series the capacity doesn’t add up like that.  Our pack has 4s6p meaning 4 cells in series, 6 of those sets in parallel.  So we end up at 16.8V and 15,600mAh.  Even more technically correctly stated as 231 Watt Hours.  (it’s a big battery) It will play for 5 – 30 hours in any of the SQ modes and 4 – 20 hours in any of the SPL modes (depending greatly on volume level and type of music)

The aluminum front panel thickness has been increased to 0.190 inches as well as a bunch of aluminum bracing added to the panel and MDF bracing added to the box walls to handle the sound pressure.  We also had to find special feet because it walks across the floor by itself when cranked up when our standard feet are attached! It includes the analog optical limiter circuitry like the Model L and Model M so it doesn’t overdrive and distort, even at max volume.  It also includes the 2.1A USB power outlet and linking jacks that are found on the Model L.  Audio is input via 3.5mm stereo Aux jack or Bluetooth wireless A2DP.

I feel that we have broken ground (again) with the XL, a 960 watt – 14 driver boombox / dj speaker / self- powered monitor has never existed, until now.  Weight to be approx. 30 lbs, but it is very well balanced and our leather handle makes it very comfortable to manage.  Price is going to be around $1600, which is the price of 2 model L with standard batteries.  So XL is a bargain as the user gets a much bigger sound, more configurations, a battery powered line-array, and it is louder and lighter than 3 model L’s.  Output is nearly 120dB full range (in SPL modes).  Its quasi- Golden Rule dimensions are 28 X 18 X 11, this helps control resonances and helps avoid coloration of sound, as well as being visually appealing.

DiamondBoxx Model XL, purpose designed by engineers.
