Joey5395
My brother recently had an amplifier and subwoofer installed in his 2010 bmw 328 with the base factory radio with no factory amp. I tried adjusting the settings on the amplifier but the sub still sounds horrible. I decided to take the sub out and swap in mine, his subwoofer in my car sounded great but my subwoofer sounded like shit in his. What i am wondering is can high level inputs cause this problem or could it be because of the shop who installed it? MY brother's sub and amp were installed by a local "professional" shop and my backyard install on my 2009 bmw 335 with a loc puts it to shame. 06RTCharger
If theres lots of vocals and highs and no bass coming out of a sub, id think that meant the crossover points were messed up. Check what the amps crossover is at.
Quiet
Sounds like your LPF is off. Make sure it's on and set it to 80hz for starters, then adjust as necessary. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.

I turned the high pass filter all the way down, turned the low pass on it had more base but the vocal were still there. I figured from personal experiences on both of my cars that it was the high pass filter that was messed up but i couldn't get the vocals to go away. Quiet
You are gonna hear some vocals unless your LPF has a steep slope, which it likely doesn't. HPF. should be off. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
slowfkncar
Vocals but no bass? If you look in your trunk on the left side you have a small plastic panel laying horizontally, Pop it off to double check that you don't actually have a factory amp, if not then where did they tap the speaker wires? Joey5395
Yeah I checked his car doesn't have an factory amp, and I couldn't find where they tapped the wires into.

If you drop the lpf all the way does it still sound like shit? If so just take it back and have them look at it, if its non-amplified then the signal shouldn't be too bad since its full range. If you decide to do a little troubleshooting yourself then this may help. 12V Radio Ground Radio Ignition Radio Illumination Factory Amp Turn-on Power Antenna Left Front Speaker (+/-) Right Front Speaker (+/-) Left Rear Speaker (+/-) Right Rear Speaker (+/-) Center Channel (+/-) Subwoofer (+/-) Aux. Joey5395
I just realized the guys who installed it wrapped the power, ground and input wires together, could that cause the problem?
reedal
No. That will not cause your issue. The signal for the amp is likely tapped into a source that is filtering out the lower notes.
