Yessir, Cypress area.

Let me know what happens when you test voltage at low frequencies.  I'll do the same when we measure my buddy's JK.  What year model is your truck?

Well.. this sucks. Ran the test with subsonic at 10 low pass at 90.

40hz 44.3 volts

39 43.1

38 42.2

37 41.0

36 40.3

35 38.9

34 38

33 36.3

32 34.3

31 32.3

30 30.1

29 27.8

28 25.9

27 22.7

26 20.1

25 15.3

24 15.1

23 13.5

22 11.6

21 10.5

20 9.7

19 8.4

So this means my factory dsp set my ssf at 31ish.. I guess I'll just leave the one on the amp at 10?

Very interesting.  Now Im really anxious to test my buddy's Jeep to see if it does the same.  Out of curiosity, I would go higher and see where the actual cutoff is.

You can damage your subs by allowing them to play below the tuning frequency of the box since the sub unloads and the ported box has a moderately slow roll off, meaning it will act like it's playing in free air and it's very easy to overpower a woofer in free air. I'd tune the amp subsonic filter to the tuning frequency of the box, and then set the high pass around 45, maybe a bit higher. To find the frequency going to the amp, use audacity to make test tones, or download them somewhere. You can always use one of the sweep videos on YouTube to find what you're looking for. These improvements should tighten the sound up a bit.

Jeeeeez,.. give the box a chance. I was tuned at 32, and ran no SSF. Ever. Played 23 full tilt, 18 if i watched what i was doing,.. could do it with anything open, or sealed. You set the ssf at box tune, as suggesed, you giving up like a 3rd of your band width lol.  (hes at 35, then a suggested a low pass of 45,... dudes pass band is gonna be like 8 hz, most of it sloping off, fuck that.. lol) Sheesh, give it a chance man. Depending on shit, id set a high pass filter about a octave below tune,.. if i was to run one. High passes are lame lol. IMHO.

Also,... the driver unloading or whatever, because you wanna play 10hz isnt the boxes fault, its yours. Or, your driver is a turd, and cant hang.

Around 74on the low pass..

Dang that sucks man.  Glad you pinpointed the problem now rather than later, though.  Beats changing setups and always wondering why it doesnt play like you want.

What was your voltage at 74Hz?  That way I have something to compare to since they're both Chrysler-based Alpine stock systems.

LMFAO.. well this is my 3rd set of subs.. went from w3s to tw3s to these changed amps 4 times 3 different boxes.. voltage at 44 before amp cliping that's as high as it can go.. which is 2000 watts at 1 ohm. Sa10s RMS at 750 so I'm giving them a tad more. Factory dsp is a joke, left my amp wide open 10 ssf 300 lpf. Factory dsp crossovers are set at 30 and 60 something.

I set my SSF at 10 and my low pass at 300.. it doesn't make a difference, the factory DSP has already set my frequencies 31Hz to 65hz nothing I do will be able to change it.. I blew a w3 and a tw3 before buying the sundown Sa was trying all kinds of boxes,  port sizes and lengths (using a calculator of course) is what blew them and I'm sure I clipped the signal a bit trying to push them harder... (Idgaf). My original goal was to set the ssf to 25 which is about a half of an octave below port tune. However, I can not get there with this factory DSP.. would an audiocontrol epicenter be an option??

I would consider testing the signal wire behind the head unit that goes to the DSP (which resides under/next to the steering column in my buddy's jeep) and determining if the attenuation is still present in that signal wire.  You can always solder/crimp it back into place.  If that wire is has a clean signal thru all the low frequencies, you can tap off that wire to send a clean, unadulterated signal to your subs, and let the original wire still go to the DSP in the dash.

If the Jeep turns out to have the same issue, thats exactly what we'll be doing.  I'll also start a thread about Chrysler-based stock Alpine systems once I have enough information and a solution in place.
