level 6 18 in a 4th order

HI, I posted this in the DC section but had no response so I thought I would give it a crack here... LVL6 18s in a 4th what kind of cubes do I need for the sealed section? I would run it through a box program ( winisd )and play around but there are no specs on the DC website, just curios as to what people have run in the past. Each sub should be seeing 5k before impedance rise etc

Cheers

The specs are on the page for the level 6 18's. I made a calculator for this purpose and there's also one located at the URL http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=27 where you put in the following spec:

F(s): 36.4

Q(ts): 0.409

V(as): 67.02 liters (convert this to ft^3)

F3(L) (Lower -3 dB cutoff): Up to you. Play with it until the gain becomes at least zero and probably at most 3 dB. Idk what the DCs can take as far as cone pressure and heat dissipation.

Then you have to add the subwoofer displacement to whichever part of the enclosure the magnet and basket structure are in (should be the ported section) and also add room once you account for bracing so it retains its original size. Also there is another part of the website for port calculations. If you want to use WinISD with the specs that they include at the bottom of the page of the D.C. audio level 6 18, don't freak out when the box is gigantic. Adjust port size to more than 0 and it'll give you a curve to work with.

Ive asked this before, but what are your sources for your calculator?  You mentioned that youre in college; one of the first requirements you learn is to cite your sources.

WinISD is actually pretty accurate.  Not sure why you would spend the time to reinvent the wheel.

Im curious more than anything.  If you have made an improvement, then kudos to you.  But theres no way to prove that your calculator is good or bad without spending money and time building enclosures to prove out your program.

I believe I put the sources within the code and on my post in the build but I may be wrong. The problem was that I figured out someone had already done something similar, so now I'm doing more research and coming back to it when I have something to add.

I admire your interest.  I'm not a programmer, so its cool that youre interested enough to figure it all out from that perspective.

OP, have you found a box design yet?  You sure do have a lot of subs lol.  Still going high voltage?
