Setting gains - SMD DD-1 vs. RF C.L.E.A.N. side by side

Recommended Posts

this showed up in my feed just a few minutes ago. Thought i would share it. I personally use my own tools to set gains so i don't know anything good or bad about RF's "CLEAN" built in gain settings. It is pretty cool to see the DD-1 Distortion Detector side by side in real time just to see how it compares. I also like how he made a few marks on the amp where the DD-1 says stop and the other one says stop. This is not a vs. as in some sort of a competition between the two. They both clearly have their place in the car audio world.  One is good for setting itself, the other can set almost any other amp so it is not a battle but a comparison. See how they do!

Just saw this video in a post on Facebook. Never seen this guy but i'll be checking out more of his videos. Liked him. I didn't even know RF had that "CLEAN" feature built in.

Hell yeah, good to find another car audio channel. Hey Steve, you know this guy actually called you out to do the harness challenge last month? Did you chicken out or something?

please don't confuse "chicken" with "no time" or "don't give a fuck". LOL.  I got better things to do.  I don't even know what that "challenge" is since i never gave it 30 seconds of my time to find out.

Fair enough! Haha, yeah I didn't think you would have seen it. It was a time attack a few of the car audio Youtubers were doing a while back. They'd race to wire up a standard harness then call out the next person to get a better time. Just a bit of fun. This guy called you out. He said "as if by some miracle he's watching this" ?

the people who would win a harness challenge would be the guyus who work at best buy and have to fly through stereos to make commission, a custom installer is always going to be slower at certain things. On the flip side the best buy guy cant build a box.

Yup, cutting all wires even length, stipping wires even lengthis, cutting even length adhesive lined heat shrink, soldering the wires, wrapping in techflex or tesa tap.

Bestbuy installers crimp caps and butt connectors and call it good to go.....
