Mack187Murder
Got 2 xs power 3300 amp Batts. Big threes done..and I'm.installing a mechman 370. I fuse the power wire from alt to battery with a 400 amp fuse right. Now since my b atteties are in parallel do I fuse the power wire connecting them on each end with a 400 amp fuse as well. reedal
Just use a 350A fuse. Even if your alt were to put out 370A all of the time, it likely won't blow the 350A fuse due to the design of the fuse. Using a 400A fuse will require to have 450A+ to blow it. yes, you need to have a fuse within two feet of each positive connection of each battery. The closer the fuse is to the battery the better SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=
rocking.that.eclipse
Fuse for what your wire is rated for. If your alt puts out more than 370 at any point good as long as your wire can handle that.
06RTCharger
Whats 0gauge rated for? Around 300-350 right? If u put a 400fuse on a 300 rated wire, u could go up in smoke lol. That would basicially not even be a fused run. Maybe two ogauge runs positive and Fuse both runs with a 200A fuse. Might work better? Im still a noob tho, just givin u some input and ideas. ShadeTreeMechanic
No need to fuse alt to front battery. If you did, then you would need a fuse at the alt and a fuse at the battery. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

ShadeTreeMechanic
The thing about an alternator fuse is that in order to get full output without blowing the fuse then the fuse needs to be rated higher than output. If fuse is higher than output and there is a short, it won't blow the fuse. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
reedal
Few people ever get full output from the alt.... a 350A fuse for a 370A will be more than ok even if he does have full output the entire time SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=

reedal
A short will cause a much larger surge from the battery than the 20A difference between the fuse and Alts max output. The 20A isn't going to hurt that fuse, nor will it ever happen.
