Amp Gain Nearly Maxed & No Clipping

If u found a distortion point on the gain, that would mean u fixed ur issue. Lol but it sounds like ur still having an issue based on what you said after that. Using the dd-1 should be pretty simple, u must be over looking some step or something. The dd-1 works, because u found distortion on the HU.

Maybe the amp gain potentiometer dial is broke? And its not actually going up? When u turn the gain up do u notice a differnce in output from ur speakers? If u have a dmm, check the ends of the rca wires. The rca plug thats going into the amp, check that its putting out 5v when maxed volume. Just some other ideas u can mess with if u havent already.

TURN THE FUCKING VOLUME UP TO 62 ,,,,  I dont get what is scaring you. 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 % of the 80prs's out there are clean to 62. TURN THE VOLUME KNOB TO 62, also, setting at a 0db over lap is gay as aids, kinda wish he didnt even have that on there, people just get silly with it.

Use track 3 at least. Fuck, your emailing Tony for what? For him to tell you to read the directions?

Also, make sure the filters on THE AMPLIFIER are set correctly as well, not just the HU .......  This isnt rocket science

I did. Having the Headunit not at 62/62 was part of the reason why, so thank you for that. It wasn't that I was scared but rather just being safer. Anyways, the other part was not having my gain knob set to maximum.. Book says 1/2 but as I read elsewhere on threads/forums I seen that you want it maxed. Nonetheless, I have it set correctly now.

Thanks. And messaging Tony was only to get extra insight, which never hurts.

1. DMM method that is posted is inaccurate ( basically ass )

2. The 3/4 volume on the HU is complete BS ( basically way for people to set the HU to a non clipping point but generally, like in your case leave shit loads of pre out voltage on the table)

3. Having a proper tool for setting gain is crucial ( oscilliscope or DD-1). With something like a DD-1 or oscope you know 110% that your gain is dialed in perfect.
