Finally got around to cleaning up the bus bar I made for the ECU/battery under the hood.  This was scuffed with a 60 grit orbital sander and has been in the car for a month or so

Taped off the contact points so I can spray this stuff on it.  We'll see how it holds up

So I get to this point and the bass knob I bought from someone on FB wasnt working on the right side channel.  After 5 days of working on this bitch, and you get down to the final step of tuning and you have a bad RCA?  UGH. So I took it apart.  This one connection looked pretty bad, but wasnt sure if this was the problem or if the problem was in the potentiometer.

Checked the bare wire.  Nope, wasnt this connection.  Bummer.

Well well.  Broken lead at the pot

At this point, I shouldve known that the burn mark would signify that the pot was likely burnt up.  I didnt even think to check the pot, instead, I kept testing at the RCA ends.  So I went about pulling the tape off to see how the other connections were.

And a third.  This is NOT a mistake, this is poor workmanship.  The solder isnt soaked up well into the wire.

Spent the time to reconnect the leads to the pot

Then reconnected the RCA cable to the connector

But then after testing realized that the pot was actually bad.  What a waste of time.  Still need to contact the guy on FB.  However, I wont be buying anything from him again.  Anyway, I'll make my own bass knob at a later date with the parts from this one.

Voltage is wicked awesome.  Ive never been comfortable letting the system play while I step outside the car.  I got out yesterday, walked around, listened for rattles, etc.  Didnt even drop below 13V at idle (after the PCM cut the alternator off even).  The best part is how light the car is.  I saved over 150 pounds over the rear axle by switching over, which is a big deal in a car as small as mine.

Still need to do some cosmetic shit like put the fender well covers in, finish the relayed fuse block, etc etc. but here's the bank and the wiring.  Keep in mind I wanted to be able to pickup someone from the airport with their luggage, so maintaining about half the trunk space was paramount.

These coils measure somewhere between 0.3 and 0.4 ohm.  Every time I've measured a single sub with coils in parallel, I've never read below 0.8, so I think the coils are closer to 0.4.  But I guess I'm living the 1/3 ohm life.

Couldnt get out til after dark since I was setting my SSF when I got home, but here's a quick vid.  Didnt drop below 12.8V at idle.  Not bad for 2 5Ks at 1/3 ohm each.

I'll get some vids in the daytime soon.  This damn early sunset sucks
