cleto13
I will absolutely do double baffle. I've never had anything tuned lower than 33ish, and I like my bass LOW so I'm really looking forward to how it turns out. I'm gonna build it tonight hopefully. Just a side note here, I've always built my boxes with 3/4" MDF using 1-5/8" drywall screws, pre-drilling and countersinking each one, and wood glue on every joining surface. Is there a better method? I've done it that way since my first box 20 years ago lol seems like there would be a better way by now? I've got nail guns LOL
WalledSonic
Glued and screwed is the way to be. You nailed it sir. DLHgn
If you have nail guns, you can always just nail it together with the glue. The whole point of the screws is to provide a clamping force until the glue fully dries. You can achieve the same thing with nails or just clamps if you have enough of them. 8ten8
Drywall screws will snap with too much tork. They corrode easily too. Other than that, your method is fine, will get the job done. Imo deck screws are the way to go. These particular screws were awsom. They countersink themselves. I probably could have gotten away with not pre-drilling. But I will always predrill. Tuned in for the 20's
WalledSonic
That predrill head is cool. Im gonna check those out, 8. The screws will bear the lion's share of the joint loads, taking that stress off the glue joints. The screws hold the box together and the glue just seals the joints. I agree though that glue alone is usually suffice on most boxes. However, if im walling a car off i wouldnt trust glue alone from keeping that box in place.
