Like the extra 140 amps I would get by running a mechman 270 hairpin alt, vs my stock 130 "lol"... would I be getting cleaner lows, louder lows, windier lows.? 8ten8 Posted October 5, 2017 Report Share Posted October 5, 2017 I like the low's too. A properly built and tuned enclosure will get the lows your looking for. Got a stock alt too (for now) 100a at best cold. I notice a difference in output/feel when i drop from 13.6v to 12.8v. My amp is rated 14.4v @ 900w. So imo, less voltage drop from 14.4v = closer to rated power compared to 12.8v. Most amps RMS rating is at 14.4 volts. Hope that make sence. But if your voltage is already stable and doesnt drop at all, you might not notice it. Do u know if u have voltage drop when the bass starts hitting?
