The case parts have arrived!

Well I have been out there working on the case parts since 5 non stop.

I had to measure, cut, trim, grind, round, each one of these rails to get them to fit.  On top of that, I had to run a 1/4" Round over bit around all the edges so the rail would fit flush.  I was struggling over gluing the rails on or screwing them on.  I decided on Epoxy.  They are held securely on by the corners, they just need to be stuck along the length to keep them from shifting.

So 1st test fit....This is when I found out I had to 1/4 round the edges.

You have to fit each rail so they dont overlap on the ends, then round over the corners.

Measuring to see if any trimming was needed where the speaker sets in and yes.  I had to trim part of the rail to clear the speaker on both sides.

Well its pretty much done now.  All I have left is the grill.  I will order that next payday friday, then it should be here about 10 days later.  Total finished cost of this box build was about $375.  I must have at least 15 hours in this as well.

Man That's pretty sweet. Not my style but I like seeing something different and knowing the effort it took to do it right.

I hope you like the how the box performs so that this artwork doesn't have to be Rebuilt.

Man looks great! I really like the grill idea, I am always worried that one of the kids is going to throw something in the back of the truck and its going to lay against the cone. I had the zipper from someone's coat saw through a surround one time.

What amp are you going to run? Tuned in for more pictures!

I talked to tech support at soundcubed today about the excursion of the woofer.  Apparently its 1.75" above the top arc of the foam surround.  Damn, That would put my grill at over 3 inches off of the cabinet.  Right now I cant think of any way to make that look good, so for the moment I am shelving the grill.  At a later date, I may modify the cabinet.  Since I doubled up the front baffle, I can easily recess the speaker 3/4" into the cabinet.  I would want to put a ring around the inside if I did that though.
