I did a quick Google search and found this article.

Basically like tboorm said. Grounds should be near battery.

If you don't know if the part you want to ground to is good or not you can use a volt meter to check continuity with + probe on battery + and - probe where you want to ground.

Once you know the part you chose connects to the battery now turn to your resistance setting on your multi meter ( measured in ohms ) and look to make sure it's less than .3 try to get lower if you can. I used where my stock wires grounded in my Civic and it works great but they're less than a foot away already.
