Alternator charge wire

Recommended Posts

You absolutely without a doubt do need 2 fuses. You need a fuse within 1 to 2 feet of any hot wire coming off any battery especially a wire that is run the length of the vehicle whether outside on the frame or otherwise. A fuse on the battery under the hood is not going to do anything but keep the front battery charged for the fire that will ensue as soon as the trunk battery shorts out and burns your car to the ground.

Maybe I jumped the gun on this one.

The isolator is not going to serve a purpose unless you play your music with the car off.

But to clarify...

IF you run your system with the car off, you want an isolator so that your under-the-hood battery is not affected while you drain your trunk battery.

Not even needed then.

And if you were to do something like that and drain that rear battery bank and then start the car up your alternator is going to hate life.

Alternators absolutely do not like having to charge a dead battery, its a good way to burn up an alt.

You shouldnt be blasting your system with the car off to the point of even draining the battery bank that far ever anyway, your amps will not appreciate the low voltage.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
