I agree with this and to add to it the big 3 small rear battery agm OFC wire that can carry the current you plan to pull. Efficiency is key to pulling less current. Jdavis51 Posted January 24, 2018 Report Share Posted January 24, 2018 I had a 2011 Chevy Malibu and i had a stock battery, big 3, a xs xp950, 1/0 from front to back and had a sundown 2000 at 1 ohm it would dip low at idle but just make sure you have a volt meter somewhere you can watch it and you should be fine Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bcbrassard Posted January 24, 2018 Report Share Posted January 24, 2018 Wife's 2012 Malibu has a stock 150 amp alt, with original battery running a P200-2(highs) P500-4(mids) & a 99 RF Power 1000a1 @ 2 ohm to a T1 12". No dimming of lights, unsure of voltage drop but she doesn't wang on the system like i do when i'm in it. Would like to upgrade battery and do the big 3 this summer. All batteries were agm, group 34 in the front, and two group 31's in the rear. Running off just batteries and no real HO alt is not for me. buildinggam Posted January 27, 2018 Author Report Share Posted January 27, 2018 Ok so I'm thinking of going with the skar rp2000.1 because it is a better price vs power than the Orion. I know that the skar has 0awg input but I'm not looking to pull the whole 2000+ watts from the amp, would I be ok to use the 4awg I have for my current alpine? Also I don't see any fuses on the amp so I'm assuming I'll have to buy an additional fuse holder to put next to the amp for added protection. Am I correct in assuming this?
