Im helping my buddy put some music in his truck n he doesnt have the budget for a dsp for the time being... My question is if there is a program that i can download onto my laptop that will measure frequency levels so i can help him accurately adjust his EQ, xover points, etc... Most of the EQing that needs to be done to make a system play flat needs to be done with an RTA to adjust the sound in the cabin of the vehicle where it will be heard. Thats what im tryn to figure out. Maybe i didnt word it very well. I basically wanted to get a program to DL on my laptop, hop in, hook a mic up to it n play different frequencies, songs while i adjust the EQ by referring to the peaks n valleys that are displayed thru the laptop. audiofanaticz Posted February 13, 2018 Report Share Posted February 13, 2018 If your looking for something on the cheap cheap, TrueRTA has freeware software that you can use, but also a paid version. https://trueaudio.com/rta_abt1.htm Sadly the RTA will be very dependent on the microphone used, if you use a cheap mic your results will not be the best since a cheap mic will not have a good frequency response. I use one called Room EQ Wizard (REW), its free and there is lots of info out there on how to use it. mothra Posted February 15, 2018 Report Share Posted February 15, 2018 tons of stuff out there, the big thing is how much money you really want to drop. figure you'll need to at least spend $150 to get a decent RTA setup. Audiocontrol makes a calibrated mic for iOS. A ton of industry guys use a windows based laptop for REW (Room EQ Wizard) with a calibrated mic like the UMM6. Other industry guys that do a lot of OEM integration use Phonics PAA3 and PAA3x.
