According to Taramps distributor Daymian, this amp is optimized for bass and mid-bass applications. It is rated to deliver 1800 watts of RMS power at 12.6 volts with less than or equal to 1% THD. Oh yeah? Let's test it and find out... Rated: 505w @ 8 ohms 1100w @ 4 ohms 1800w* @ 2 ohms *the 1800w rating in the manual is stated from 60Hz to 1kHz <=1% THD as tested with Audio Precision APx525 on resistive loads. We tested at 40Hz and also compared at 1kHz near the end of the video for those who want to run this full range. Check it out! MünürYılmaz Posted February 20, 2018 Report Share Posted February 20, 2018 As you said in the video I really do have concerns about this amplifier pushing out this sort of power continuously without reaching really high temperatures. I did mention this in many other videos with these small Taramps amps but they always say that's what the little fan is for and will output this power continuously as long as the fan is hooked up and turns on. If this is the case, this will be one of the amplifiers I will look into if I ever do think of upgrading, although it doesn't seem to be that efficient with the current draws it's pulling. WillistonAudioLabs Posted February 20, 2018 Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2018 I should have mentioned it in the video, but during my subwoofer tests, the amp was killing the sub and only pulling a few amps. The sine wave tests shown will be an absolute worst case scenario for the current pulls.
