rsfm089
was thinking about trying out a taramp but just read that the DD-1 won't work to set the gain. Is this the truth? The DD-1 is the only thing i have to set gains with.
shizzzon
Passively setting gain doesn't do anything in respect to safety or maximum clean output from dynamic material (music). Use the provided LED Monitor and ensure the amplifier is not playing into clipping as that's exactly what it's intended purpose is.
WalledSonic
Why doesnt the DD-1 work with Taramps? Is the THD too high or something? I use an oscope now, but back when I had a DD-1, the old HD6500 I had would throw the distortion light at any volume (probably due to noise in the amp) which couldnt be heard through the subs, but the dd-1 picked it up as distortion. WalledSonic
Thanks for the input man. I was watching Barevids (Sam) on YT and he mentioned that some Brazilian amps dont have output inductors as filters (probably for cost down). The justification from Taramps was that "the subwoofer is a large inductor" and that it would filter out high frequency noise in the same manner that an inductor in the amp would filter out noise. Makes sense, but sucks that the subs would have to dissipate that heat and noise. For others reading, not all Taramps amps omit the output filter inductor... some do have them. rocking.that.eclipse
Yup my 3k would throw distortion light randomly. quarter volume light on, half volume no light, could sneeze and light would go on.
