Chase k
I recently purchased an rca Gain Control Remote just to be able to turn my subwoofers down for certain music. After plugging it in though it sounds like my subwoofers aren't playing near as loud at full volume anymore. Do I need to turn the gain up on my amplifier? I feel like the knob is causing a resistance even at fully turned up. I'm not sure how this work I just wanna make sure I understand before I mess with it. I have a Rockford fosgate 500.2 amplifier. I would like to just get a punch level knob but I don't have 50-100$ to spend on one(considering I got the amp for 40$).
Calrider76
Off topic but score on the amp!!!
alex912005
With the remote on max volume it should be as loud as before it was installed. Can't be that much resistance. Maybe one of the RCAs is busted, or you didn't insert it all the way and you're getting half signal to the amp. My Build Log
AlpineNut
Once i got my JBL RBC I had to turn the gain up a little to get it to sound where it was before, so ya you might wanna turn the gain up just a tad. And ya price for the RBC for ya amp is a tad off, found them here for around $20. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/search?keyword=rockford+fosgate+remote+bass+knob 73456w9vbwevsdb sodtbsorutnvsd sdtuspdun sd d f gsdfiusd gdf n

All rcas are plugged in good and are not broken. I will try it tonight. Those knobs you found will not work on my amplifier. It is a year specific knob only. I talked to Rockford fosgate about it the other day. They basically said look on eBay ??
PC Principal
I have that exact model amp and I was able to order the remote knob from Rockford's website. Granted, this was probably 3 years ago when I did buy it. I cant seem to find it on their website now, so I wonder if it has been discontinued? If I remember correctly, it only cost me around $20. This is the one I have, but damn, I didnt spend that much on it. https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-Remote-Amplifiers-1999-2003/dp/B007TASTPM 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser RF Power T1000 BDCP RF Punch 400-4 2 P2D4 12's
WalledSonic
PAC LC-1 $9.99 on Amazon and works great. Any added resistance will change the voltage from the source to the amp. You can use a DMM to measure the resistance of the pot. 48000-50000 ohm is normal for minimum gain and 1 - 4 ohm is normal for maximum. I believe my PAC tests at 2.7ohm or something. If you are out of those limits, you should question your potentiometer.
