Thanks!  The Crossfires are d.7s.  Wired in parallel/series, I get a 1.34 nominal load.  The amps will be strapped.

So you parallel each sub then series them up?.. nice. The wiring calculator I have doesn't have parallel/ series option. Only series/parallel. Thanks for clearing that up. Those crossfire amps will run all day at that impedance.

Tons of pics coming.  I reconed my blown XSv1 12", finished my 60ah Cmax bank, and installed my first Crossfire 4k (currently wired at .33 nominal).  It sounds at least as loud as it was with the Vital.  I'll meter it this weekend at TDH.  If anyone wants a demo, come snag one!

Thanks, DiBo! It took first in ISPLL Wall 1 All Around SPL with a 155.2dB 30 second average at 35hz, and 1st in Wall 1 Subsonic Suicide with a 156.2dB 2 minute average at 28hz (after bonus - 155.2dB without).

I'm impressed. What'd you clamp with the 4k @.35?

I clamped 5500 watts out of it rising to 1.3 ohm at 14v. That was driver window down at 28hz. I'm planning on taking measurements of SPL, impedance, clamped power, and voltage throughout its whole playable range sometime soon. Stay tuned for graphs.

Wow... 5500 out of a 4k. I get like 2k outta my 4k's wired at 1 ohm tho.

Just for fun, we're going to wire up my teammate's M1U in the Montero and do some clamping/SPL testing.  Any guesses on numbers?  It'll be wired to .35.

We're also interested to see how my 60ah Cmax bank and CES 280 handle that much juice.  We'll find out!

Exactly as I suspected, the m1u was too much for one of the 7 year old Crossfires haha.  It delaminated the cone, just like the first one.  Luckily, it wasn't as severe as the first one, so I was able to cobble it back together with a mess of CA glue.  Just for fun, before I got to that point, I metered it with just the 3 subs (and a plug blocking the 4th hole).

3 12s on the m1u at .5:

154.6dB legal at 27hz

156.2dB driver window down at 30hz

Now that I have the broken sub sketchily put back together, I went and gave it a listen yesterday.  It magically held up to some abuse.  I'm gonna throw it on the meter again this weekend, but I doubt it'll last long.

I have my eyes on another Crossfire 4k and 4 of Crossfire's new XT3 12s.  Maybe that's the combo I need to see a 160 door open on the dash in this thing ;)
